Soundtrack

A soundtrack for non-visual media?! What madness! That privilege is supposed to belong to movies, television, and the theater. The written form is getting uppity with this Internet nonsense . . .

In the spirit of all that is uppity, these songs are loosely related to the story through lyrics, theme, mood, or something else. They might even tell some abbreviated form of the story if they struggle.

The beginning

Driven miles apart by the ghetto

What Aldo thought about the distance

Going to the concentration camp

At Auschwitz, without Aldo

Aldo still makes his promises to Emily

There are things about Aldo that the Nazis must never find out

Aldo the many-faced

Emily’s brief respite from the horror

The horror returns

Will she become a fighter?

Has her man made her collapse in despair?

Will she reject love, bury it and walk away?
